How can I make best use of a redundant domain for SEO purposes of another site?

Domain is about 0.5 year old
Totally unrelated to the other site
Has some inbound links to it
Has a page rank of 1

Any ideas from the SEO gurus would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

put a website on it - or were you looking for something less obvious?

There is a website on it, but I was more looking for advice on how to make better use for my other site for SEO purposes.

It depends what the relation is really and whether the redundant site really has much value that won't require further work?

If you are thinking of redirecting the redundant to your main site then it might give a little boost - but only if they are on the same topic.
The alternative would be run it as a blog or a separate site - linking one to the other. However, unless very tightly related or done from independent servers or ip addresses it's unlikely to be very effective. Overdo it and you could get a slap for your efforts.

Generally, the best way to go is just to run 2 sites with different content - not to get any seo advantage as such - it just gives you 2 goes at the cherry (so to speak). Although, obviously, it means you might have to work twice as hard to keep them both going.

I don't particularly want to re-direct it as I don't think it will have any benefit whatsoever.

I was thinking of removing what is there and putting a blog on as you say. Different severs, ips etc yeh, only thing that is the same is my name, will that be okay?

I think it doesn't matter what name the domain is registered in - you do need to be careful about overdoing the cross linking though. My advice would only to link one way and only where the content is relevant.
