Hi All,

I have been busy working on my new website http://www.sportsonline.org.uk . I now realise I have no idea what to charge for banner adds or adding an advert to the newsletter. If it is not to sensitive, can people post of pm me with advice on how to work out how much to charge.

I realise that the more popular the site becomes the more you can charge, but where do you start?

If you dont receive many hits at the moment then I would offer free advertising or really cheap advertising.
Hopefully as the site becomes more popular you can charge more, also, if advertisers competitors see ads on your site then you may get further business as a result.
If you dont receive many hits at present then why should anybody pay you as nobody will see their ad.
An ad in a newsletter is different again as it will depend on how big your subscribers list is.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply.

Just as a side note, last year during June/July when there was a big tournament going on, the site got just over 100,000 hits each month(mainly because the tournament organisers mentioned the site in their mailings). Is it worth having special rates for this period, if I have the some prospects this year.
