Hi,
http://www.winthishouse.org.uk
a contact of mine is running this competition to sell his house and has asked me to help find out why ticket sales are slow.
I have a couple of ideas, but he has been featured in newspapers and on local radio. He needs to shift a few more and wondered what you guys think might be the problem?
Thanks

The house?
Lol, just kidding. :D
Well, distribution on forums, like what you're doing, might be the best (and cheapest) way forward. :)

This has been tried before, it was on here a few months ago..it flopped.
Your mate would be better selling on a property site and probably much quicker. £10 is a lot for a ticket for most people to loose!

Hes been running it for a while, more of a contact as a mate as he was referred to me for some advice on how to market.
I think the site design lacks, but unfortunately he only has a month or so left to shift just over half his tickets, so I think major changes are out.
I was more looking for suggestions on whether he should change to home phone number, that kind of thing.
Thanks

Yeah this is ringing bells in my head !! Dont laugh....
There was a guy on here recently with the exact same dare I say...scheme.
It didnt work out from what I remember.
If there is one thing people dont like to mess with then its houses/property.

If I am to be honest, I was just about to buy a ticket thinking that everyone is in with a chance of winning. Kinda like what you see at airports with winning cars but what has put me off is the question. I know very little of Robinson Crusoe and when I done a google search on him I had loads and loads of pages come up and can't be bothered to read it all just to find about about a ship. I have clicked off it and have refrained from buying a ticket.
Maybe he would have more luck but not asking a question and just eneter everyone who buys a ticket into the draw. Let's face it, the people who buy are the ones that know the answer so everyone entered will have the right answer but people like me who don't know will not buy a ticket. £10 is a bargain for a house but not if I take a guess.
Hope that helps
Cheers

Hi Chris,
this is why he was referred to me, I have had experience of mobile competitions and the lottery laws are strict. You cannot just buy a tciket, you have to have a competition like the telly to get around this.
The competition is aimed at Bristol, so many people would know the answer.

Is the house in a rough area then? Is that why he's selling it this way? It's very strange selling tickets to get rid of a house.

When I visit a site and go to their FAQs section and find it empty it puts me off 100%.
Out of interest, lets say they dont reach the target of 20,000 tickets at all.
What happens to the cash ?

It was on the bottom Jacqui, he keeps 30% and give the rest as prize money.
He'll be better off by not selling all the tickets

It's quite a nice little earner for him if you think about it..if he only sells half, he could still pocket 30k..very nice profit for doing nothing

Yeah thats what I was working out. Even if he sells only £190,000 worth of tickets. He can still walk away with a nice sum.

Hi All,
My understanding is that he has given notice on his job and is still aiming to to emigrate in April. I think he really does want to get rid of the house.
Not the best, not the worst area.
600+ a month rental potential.
Thanks all some good feed back here.

So in otherwords by buying a ticket and even if the draw doesnt go ahead we could be paying for your contact to emigrate.....
Now if that isnt a noble cause.

Do it Jayne.
In anycase you will make a packet, emigrate and then rent your house out anyway !

Why do I never think of these super ideas! I'll emigrate to Scotland to see Nessie in my campervan, which would be paid for, by not selling my house.
Brilliant idea!

You can spend the money you make from NOT selling your house and then when you run out.....do it all again !

Crus,
Just come across a site for a couple in London who tried to sell their flat in a similar way - they didn't raise enough money through the ticket sales so still own the flat. They sold just under £24k of tickets and the winner then got 50% of the sales - £12,000 for a £2.50 ticket is a fantastic profit!
The property owners have now decided to take £10,000 off the market valuation of the flat and put it back up for sale.
If your contact wants to see what happened with this property, the site is: www.winalondonflat.com.
Lindsey.
