Have you logged onto 123-reg and edited the domain nameservers?
The nameservers should be changed to match your new hosting company

I wasnt planning on hosting it yet, just moving it to 123 so it doesnt point at the site its with,
Do i have to host the name somewhere?

no you don't need to host it.
Check who the current registrant is, goto nominet.org.uk and enter the domain name into the box on the top right under WHOIS
On the result you will see if its been transfered to 123 or not.
I'm not a great fan of 123-reg, I prefer UKreg.com or domainmonster.com

Who owns the domain?
Have BT changed the TAG to allow 123Reg to take it over?

Registrar:

In some cases, a transfer can take up to 14 days,

Should do, if they need anything from you, they would contact you. There is not a lot of work for them to do.
Just keep an eye on the who.is and if it's taking a while, ring up and ask

I always buy .co.uk domains with 123.reg (cheapest & reliable, now have 11 domains with them)
Always host the website with someone else, in case the hosting provider goes kaput, or servers go down, you can quickly change the nameservers to point at a new server.
BT should doing phone lines & broadband only, leave web hosting to the pro's

you should monitor the url to that company and it takes weeks from what I have experience to my friend

.co.uk should not take more than five minutes, .co.uk is total different to transfering .com .net .org etc...
Also bt has to do it change the TAG to 123-REG and you can transfer it to 123-reg
Phone them and they should do it on the phone.
I've surprised you don't have the option yourself in the admin area where your domain currently is
