right my fellow forumers (is that a word?!),

I've recently changed my website, and although I know it isn't perfect, I'd appreciate your comments etc on readability, design etc.

I know there's a couple of dodgy bits as you click through the pages (I'm just mending them now).

Please be gentle though - i'm a bit hormonal!!

It looks nice and bright and easy to use. But the writing on the right all overlaps and you cannot read it.

Sorry but its not working properly for me in Firefox. There is a big line going through your top menu so you cant read it properly.

Hi,
On the 'what we do' and 'get a quote' pages, the text runs over the google frame. And the 'what we do' menu tab is a smaller font than the rest.
I know logos are very personal things, but I reckon you could do better than the joined m&w. Sorry
Cheers, Nigel

morethanwords,

I think you should invest in a professionally designed logo.

I think everyone should.

About the site... I think people will know you did it yourself. If you are OK with that then fine. It just lacks professionalism.

I am in the same position. I am going to get my own site a face-lift when I can afford it. After that I will get the wife one.

Cheers,

Same for me in Safari

Same as above for me.

As you will be offering design I agree with Nigel and suggest that you try to improve your logo too. This site will be your showcase so its got to hit the target on all fronts.

Doesn't work at all in Firefox, Safari or Camino.

i agree with most of the above comments. To put it nicely, i would start again!!!

First impressions count and the one you get from that website just is not one you want people to remember you by.

It does look like a home made site, although that isn't necessarily a bad thing, depending on your line of business.

The logo also lets things down. (Don't worry, we designed our own logo initially and although i was as pleased as punch, it actually looked likes the dogs dinner! )

You could get a professional looking logo designed quite reasonably from some of the designers on here. All in all, considering that you are a professional, offering a professional service to other professionals, then the site should be professionally designed!

That is the most times I have ever written the word 'professional' in one post! :D

Sorry to hear that you are feeling hormonal, would some chocolate make you feel better? (it works for me) :D

FWIW: ditto from me in all of the above.

I forgot to say I knew about the firefox issue - but don't actually know how many people use firefox...

I'm not really offering design officially - my friend who is a designer is going to put copywriting services on his site and said i'd do the same. He is hopefully going to be doing my logo and site at some point, but seeing as he's doing it for nowt, I don't want to push him for it!

I feel really gutted now - i liked it! Oh well. I did ask!

I discovered that its not about what you like its about what your customers and viewers think :)

Thats why i got my site done professionally in the end :D

Dont be gutted.

I know we all came up with problems and not many solutions except get it done by a professional designer, but its better that it come from the likes of us - your fellow forumers ( ?! ) than your clients or prospects.

Make sure your designer friend knows how much this is going to mean and represent to you and dont hesitate to ask us all again for more advice or feedback.

Im sure next time it will be spot on !

don't be gutted, honestly its not too bad, but you did ask.....!

It will do you for now, and when you have enough funds to get it done professionally, then put some tenders out on here.
