Getting into distributors' network

Hi

I am new to the form so please be patient. I am changing my company's business from Management Consultancy mainly in social care into Imports and Exports business. However, I have started with importing Egyptian cotton textile mainly beddings and I need to get into distributors' network. I approached few big boys directly (the likes of main retailers) but could not get anywhere so I thought I might go to the level below and sell to distributors who sell to the big boys. I do not mind, initially to squeeze my margin. Any help?

In my industry (promotional and corporate merchandise) I get quite a few enquiries for egyptian cotton bedding for hotels etc... might be a good idea to target either promotional merchandise distributors or suppliers (depending on your quantities)
