Hi, i put this post in the e-commerce forum and i was not sure if i put it in the right forum - got a good responce though

Im starting an online store selling watches & jewellery and i need some help on creating a web site

I know nothing about HTML and would ideally like a site that can easily be edited by myself, so i found 1 & 1 internet Ltd and used the templates on there e shop, with a monthly charge.

Most if not all ready made e-commerce bundles and templates will allow you to easily add/remove/change any of your product information with hardly any technical skills needed, which is exaclty what i need.

After much trial and error, not to mention cost i have tryed to put my site on search engines but have not had any hits etc, i've also been told that i am using frames and some search engines may have trouble indexing pages that uses frames.

do i need to check out some seo site's or with my lack of experience will i be better off paying for someone to sort out the search engine side. (i'm on a low budget at the moment)

many thanks in advance

Hello again -

The response you got to this post in the e-commerce forum *was* a good response: it contained good advice that will help you achieve better results in search engines.

You do need to understand though that using a templated system from an all in one package such as the one you have from 1and1 is never going to be a huge success with search engines - for the reasons identified in the responses.

Focus on the things you can change - content on the site, and links into the site. These are the 2 main things google is looking for - properly structured, relevant content, and incoming links. If you know nothing of HTML, then you're going to struggle. You'll have to think of hiring someone who can wade through the 1and1 stuff.

You can also do worse than reading the information in these articles:

Good luck,
