Please please please tell me I am reading this wrong or something.:|
My client received an email and out of all the ridiculous things being said this bullet point confused the hell out of me.
On page heading (page titles), some are repeated and are not keyword specific, search engines do like duplicates.
Can anyone tell me what they have said?
Is it me or are they promoting duplicate content.

It's got to be a typo:
SE do NOT like duplicates

My bet is on a typo also although it wouldn't surprise me with some of the companies out there...
Hardly displays professionalism if you are making typo's such as that. It's a wonder how many of these Indian SEO companies even get UK clients with the poor understanding and writing of English, would you honestly hire a company to manage your website optimisation that can't even write properly...? :/

Not a typo. That was what my first thoughts were. Apparently the more times you repeat it the higher you get.
He also told my client that he should be page one for these terms:
Mobile phone memory
phone memory
phone memory cards
micro sd
My client is and in some cases position 1
Further more read this:
“8gb micro sd” does not yield many searches per month yet you are ranked 1 for it, so as you can see a more intelligent analysis and approach is required so ensure you are targeting the areas of highest potential. "
One of my clients best sellers is 8gb micro SD. Not always position one but in the top three. On a phone conversation he recommends that he should not focus on rubbish terms like these. google shows this as the stats for this term as: [8gb micro sd] 60,500
Now I am not sure about everyone else but 60,500 (IMO) is not a rubbish term to target.
I would love to post the rest of the email too. Take this for example.
Your site has a Google Page rank of 4/10 so visits will remain infrequent and may deteriorate further, urgent updates and increased copy based content is needed to redress this. Ranking should be 5 or higher. Two of your competitor sites have a rank of 5/10
If this was the case why is my client number one over those same websites?
All the top SEO's will tell you Page rank does not guarantee position.

Not the company.
Just the individual.
Obviously he must be new to SEO.
Me personally I would sack him for the blatant lies.

On google adwords stats I'm currently getting:
[8gb micro sd] Not enough data
for exact match local (UK) monthly search volume, so perhaps the SEO guy is going by this stat.
Whether google have got that stat correct or not is another issue. Your client's website should be able to tell whether it is getting useful visits from google searching for that term to see how correct or how wrong that current google stat is.

Yes that phrase is bringing him massive amounts of business.
Point is if he is in the top three why not stay there.

It's a simple typo - I would just email the company and tell them. It would eb a shame if a typo caused so much concern over their abilities. - We've all made typos in the past!

That just shows how ignorant the "SEO" is - Google does not allocate "pagerank" to sites, it allocates them to pages - big difference!
Ignore all the waffle, just hire a good web copywriter :)

Obviously a typo that people make from time to time.
Doesn't read right unless you infer that it should be "do not"

Yeah, my money is on a typo too.
No SEO company can be that bad (can they?).

Sorry to burst your bubbles but the guy has confirmed that titles on page should be the same.I got my client to ask some more and it got much worse.
But in all fairness the company involved are not as bad as the individual in question.

Sounds like the old story of poor training, and too much business too quickly.
This kind of thing is exactly why the SEO industry struggles with its reputation.

Duplicate content is otherwise called canonical elements. Google introduced a tag to avoid this.

Problem is that the company has a very good reputation as far as I am concerned its just a rotten apple.

Keep in mind a lot of so called "SEO consultants" are no more then sales people trained with basic product knowledge.
With regard to the statement about the 8GB mem card. The rule of thumb is the less specific the term is the more page views you will get but the less you convert. The more specific less traffic higher conversions.

So what do you expect from the latest line of cold callers who ignore TPF? There are way too many, with too little work to go around, the crap I get told on the phone is fab...some we play with for weeks until even the most dense get the picture.
