Does anyone use the Thompson Business Directory for getting contacts? I used it a bit in my previous company and they have just called trying to sell it to me again. Its £200 a year for the annual licence which means I can search for contacts and view them on the screen - if I want to download it to my database I have to buy credits - 3000 credits are £399 and would download 1000 contacts. Was thinking about maybe joining forces with another company to split the cost but havent really used it enough to know if its worth it - any opinions??

Sounds pricey to me. Experian do a list service and I've used it a couple of times as you can go on-line and set up your own search criteria and the total number you want to pay for. It works out quite cheap really...
www.prospectlocator.com.
It's also a useful research tool as you can run searches to find out how many results there would be, without buying them. So you can find out how many accountants there are in a town or county for example.
It also provides consumer lists.
