Since early september i've been following Alex Tew's journey with milliondollarhomepage. I've been intrigued with how the whole pixel advertising industry has all of a sudden exploded with his idea being the centre of it.
After watching hundreds of copycat sites popping up across the net i decided against creating one, never really had the motivation to so decided to create a debate forum for all people who are intrigued just like me to discuss any topics about the ever growing pixel industry.

You can find the pixel forum at:

I don't think there really is an 'industry', I'm sure the turnover of all the copy cat sites is just a tiny fraction of what Alex made.

It was a unique idea that worked well as a one-off, now lots of others are jumping on the bandwagon without realising it has no wheels.

But i do believe that there is some sort of industry to be made from pixel advertising. Though i do agree there is no bandwagon for pixel sites similar to milliondollarhomepage.

I was approached and asked to do the PR for a new pixel site. It did have a slightly different twist but really I think the moment has passed. I might be kicking myself in a few months if it all works out well, but I politely declined the business.

It is amazing how the word has spread throughout the world about pixel advertising.

But who ever looks at pixel sites?

The only one i've looked at is the million dollar one and that was only because it was on the news and i'm nosey. Joe Public will not look for these sites on purpose to find services and products, a good business directory is much better.

If know-one looks at the site, there is know-one to advertise to.

Pixels are pants

I would say that that pretty much sums up the whole pixel "industry".

The vast majority of the traffic to the first site was to see what the fuss is about. The follow-up sites won't get that, so what do they have that's going to bring someone to a site that's just advertising?

If people want to copy milliondollarhomepage, then they should copy the imagination and ingenuity that came up with the site, not the site itself.
