Handy list of free tools for pc users :D

defragger (http://www.piriform.com/download) - defragmentation tool
avast AV (http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download) - anti virus
Avira AV (http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.php) - anti virus
Comodo (http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/)- firewall
malware bytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) - Anti spyware
superanti spyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) - anti spyware
Speedfans (http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php)- Check your pc temperatures
PC wizard (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php) - pc specs / information
7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)- zip up files easily

I have used / still use most of these, i only recommend programs I can verify :D

Anyone want to add any more, feel free

Might be worth pointing out the potential hazard in running multiple anti-virus programs, incase any super para users make that mistake.

SmartDefrag is also really good. Runs in the background when idle.
AVG is also a good anti-virus.

No, No, and No.... AVG USED to be good, it's god damn awful now :eek: Slow, lags down the computer and throws up so many false warnings, it's really bad.

I had avg a few years ago but moved to avast :D

I agree, I only just got this advice a few weeks ago having used AVG for years, have just changed my other halfs laptop too as per my thread.

Another few for the list:

A-Squared - spyware/malware removal
Defraggler - Defrag tool (superb!)
Regseeker - registry cleaner & system tweaker - use with care!

Defraggler is there (spelt it wrong!) It's been running an hour and made 40GB of space :D 40% done :eek:
