I was going through a marketing magazine when I came across a leaflet from Royal Fail, sorry, Mail about the new PiP scheme
It stands for Pricing in Proportion... as we do a fair few Direct Marketing campaigns this could have a significant effect on budgets etc...
Thought that by posting this it may help other small companies prepare for any impact as it comes in on 1 Aug 2006.
For more info, go see http://www.royalmail.com/pip
Turns out us marketing companies will be ok though :D ... good old Royal Mail... they said the following:
"For the marketing, advertising and publishing industries, there has always been a need to balance creative ideas and costs. This is true whether they relate to size, shape, colour or any other aspect of a mailing piece. So Pricing in Proportion should present new opportunities for innovation in your mailings.
How? Well, the new classifications for mail have more generous weight allowances, so if you’ve got more to say, you’ll be able to add extra pages or items to make your mail stand out, or use a better paper stock to print on - without adding to the cost. For example, in the smallest category, letter, the maximum weight has been raised from 60g to 100g."
