View Full Version : More fanatical self promotion...

As if the UKBF link exchange wasn't generating enough traffic, here's a new idea which should take things to the next level.
Have you heard of a site called del.icio.us ??? No???
It's basically a huge list of links, categorised by their users. Popular sites / links get lots of traffic as they appear on loads of users lists.
What's more if you are keen on attracting more search engine traffic, you should be aware that Yahoo has recently bought this site, so obviously a high profile here will improve your Yahoo ranking.
So the proposal is this...
Go to: http://del.icio.us
Create an account
Add your friends on the forum to your favourites. Use relevant keywords to tag their site.
Simple. Everyone who participates gets more traffic, related to your site's subject.
Who's up for this one then? I've already added our own site and the UKBF to my list. I'll add anyone that adds me.

It's a site that stores lists of your favourites. Actually it stores everyones favourites (providing they join).
Using this info, sites that appear on lots of peoples lists get promoted as Popular, and thus get more visits.
So if we all add each other, we get more visitors...
Do you get it yet?

No
It's ok, i'll read all the other posts when the thread gets going. The penny may drop later, then if I still don't get it, i'll hassle someone until I do.

Don't panic, things like this always works best with an example.
I've added your site to my links (below)
http://del.icio.us/enigma121
under the "tags" watercolour, paintings, art
If you'd like to return the favour add
http://www.enigmaconnections.com
under the "tags" ebusiness, solutions, ecommerce

Well I joined and downloaded the button, but now I cannot find it. I followed the find button, but still cannot find it.
What exactly should I be looking for, it's a right hassle joining this thing
I've saved you site to IE favourites for now, until I find the button.

Yeah mine was a bit tricky to find. It's located on the Links toolbar, but if you have a lot of links there already it will be right across on the far right.
You can delete some of the crappy links from your toolbar by doing a right click > delete, if these are getting in your way.
It's a bit of effort up front, but once you manage to add your first one it's easy.

Think I liked the link exchange best, that was easy. This is doing my nut in
I'll try again tomorrow, when i'm not so tired and ratty.

Looking more closely i'm not too sure what the point of this is because as you can see a nofollow attribute value has been set so the links go nowhere.
