How many people view testimonials when deciding to purchase from a company, I need to update mine with some of my bigger clients and wanted to know how much is based on this information to buy.

Personally I don't put much weight behind them, and generally think I wonder who made that up...
however who knows what is going on subliminally.

My preference would be to have them no matter what, but possibly not over hyped.

If I am looking at a new supplier then I find testimonies very helpful, but they do not make (or break) the decision to buy.

What you need to remember with testimonials is that you need to put the full name and position (if you have it) along with the company name, for them to be taken seriously. As mentioned, some people are wary that they are made up bu it is unlikely to be made up if the person's testimonial contains their full name, position and company.

You can never know whether a testimonial is true or not, but most people don't (I hope) make up their testimonials!

Hi Michael.
I totally disapprove of 'solicited' testimonials; they are fiercely biased.

I do use a few testimonials on my website, but point out that they are totally unsolicited and sent under the client's own volition. That is a TRUE testimonial.

When a client gives me feedback on the work I do I always ask for their permission before using their comments in any way (e.g. on my website or on marketing materials).

I use testimonials and I update mine on a daily basis. I try to speak to all my customers and I ask them to e-mail me their comments on the products and service.

Not only is it good for potential customers but it is also good for yourself to make sure you are on the right track.

In mine I always include the full name and website if possible.
