What makes your web host better than the competition?

because I have full control of my servers makes me better than the competition who restrict what i do with a server.

also its got hardly any limited... the sky is the limit as they say

Because I can pester them with questions any time of the day and I get a speedy response from someone who knows what they are talking about :)

Because they are happy to help with things that they technically don't need to help with (setting stuff up, minor web page content issues).

Because they are UK based and are both small companies who give excellent personal service.

I was paying the equivalent of 500 USD a month for dedicated hosting and being told I needed to upgrade, when i complained about slow response times, by a reputable commercial host provider.
I did a lot of research, switched to a new US based provider with great feedback and wait for it, its unbelievable.....I pay 18.95 per month, host 14 websites and they are all blisteringly fast by comparison. They have all the features of my last provider except they respond within minutes from the help desk, the last provider sometimes took 2-3 days.....because we were 'small'.
When anything was wrong they blamed our code! and they apparently even host yahoo!

Well I have now saved enough money on hosting to pay for a lot of marketing and I have a far better service. Since then some of our developers have also switched their sites. All are happy.

This is just a warning, do not get ripped off by a host provider, we spent 30,000 usd too much before we knew it! All because we understood selling and marketing but not networking specifications!

I am with Vidahost (http://my.vidahost.com/aff.php?aff=257) and they have by far the best support I have seen from a hosting company. No matter what time I email them I get a reply pretty sharpish.

They also setup a brand new Core i7 server and offered to transfer me to it at no extra charge, which is great considering I am only on a Shared Hosting Package.

Its not just the support its the efforts they go to to make you happy.

We spread our hosting over two businesses to spread risk. Both, however, are close enough that I can, if need be, drive round and have coffee with the MD.

I would never, ever consider hosting unless this was true. As a result of this, it seems, I never have to drive round and have coffee with the MD. The service has been superb.
