Trying to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 but stuck in catch 22 situation as won't let me go any further because of following message

The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.
Windows needs to be restarted so necessary changes to system files can be made before continuing.

For these items, make the following changes:

Uninstall these programs. Open Control Panel and search for "uninstall a program".
McAfee Internet Security Suite
Upgrading Windows will affect the following devices and/or programs:

These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.

Human Interface Devices: HP Quick Launch Buttons
These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)

One-click Fixes
Well I can't find any programme called One-click Fixes anywhere. On the Human Interface Devices HP Quick Launch Buttons, it states I already have the updated driver and as for McAfee, I've deleted all trace of this.

Anyone else had this problem and no what to do to resolve it?

It may not be an option, but rather than upgrading, I always take all the data I need off my machines and do a fresh install?
I can advise you on this if you wish.

Hello,

To remove McAfee fully try using the removal tool available from the McAfee website:

download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe (Add http etc before - I'm not allowed to post links yet)

I think the other messages are warnings, so once McAfee is properly removed you should be able to continue.

To be honest you can just ignore the bit about the quick keys and One -Click Fixes I doubt you even use them and there not essential to the upgrade. You need to run the McAfee Removal Tool as the guy above said see the link here: (McAfee is a b*** to remove manually its likely it has left traces installed when you tried)

P.S. Don't put McAfee back on when you've installed ;)

Yeah I agree I would recommend http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ its free and does a good job use it along with Malwarebytes and you will be fine

Just to want to thank everyone for their help. The McAfee link worked. Only problem I now have is it that I seem to have to instal my printer again which is a pain as about to leave for London for a few days and was hoping to print off some meal vouchers quick :(

instead of doing up gradation better do fresh installation up-gradation ask so many questions, if your using server edition you can do up-gradation not for the client os

Try to un-install mcafee or antivirus which is currently in your system and then re-install it. May be it will work. I have tried it and it works for me...

Ditto on the mcaffee removal tool. Have you first to uninstall the HP software or tried disabling these at startup then trying? open run and type msconfig and disable all the HP related startup and services.
