I usually use Firefox but today happened to be using Internet Explorer (one too many Firefox crashes) and I noticed that instead of being on page 1 in the Google search results we were on page 3 (www.stylecube.co.uk (http://www.stylecube.co.uk) for the term "modern art prints").

Am I going mad? Have double checked that I am using exactly the same search term (same case), searching pages from the web not from the UK. Everything appears to be the same but the results are different.

Is this normal? I thought Google alone determined the results and the browser had no effect. This is really important for us as most of our customers use IE yet we use Firefox inhouse.

Any info on this would be really helpful - Thanks

You are indeed on page 3. You've been seeing personalised results. Check this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKuG2M6R4VM) for an explanation.

Thank you very much for that - I was signed in to my Google account in Firefox but not in IE so even though I had cleared my browsing history I was still seeing personalised results in Firefox. Learn something new every day.

What a shame we are actually only on page 3 but at least that explains why we weren't seeing the numbers of visitors expected.

You didnt need to do that.
All you need to do was disable you customisation on web history.
