green certifiers/awards etc in uk, and anything else being green?

just wondering if anyone know of any companies out there that certify a business as being green, and also if there's any where we can go to enter for awards for being green? i have seen a few other companies receiving such and such green award and would like to know how they come across this.

anything else a green business can do that we may not realise?

also i have submitted my site to a few online green directories but haven't found any really decent ones. anyone know of any?

Our local council did a 'Green Ambassadors' certificate if you made a pledge to do something 'green'. Perhaps theres something similar for your area.

Carbon Smart certification
Green Achiever Award

Environmental awards:
Guardian Green Business Awards
Research your local council or county business awards. they always have a green category

Carbon offset labels
All offset company's provide eco-labels to illustrate that you have taken environmental action. Here are a few good ones:
Carbon Neutral Company
Climate Care
Carbon Clear

If you split your green goal into two parts, as a method of offering a Green Business.
1. Reduce you environmental impact
companies can prepare you, however you then commission a certification organization.
2. Offset the carbon. This is easier and a qualified calculation tool can be found on the 'Clear offset' website for free. once you run this they will check and authorize the company statement.

What is the profile of the business.
