Hi everyone

I have a question regarding website advertising.

How much money can you actually make from just advertising revenue on a website? I realise it depends on the amount of traffic you receive but for a relatively high ranked website with possibly 1000 hits a day what type of money could you be talking in revenue a month? £100's or £1000's?

Sorry for the vague type of question, I am very curious to know if anybody actually makes decent money from this type of thing.

Thanks for any advice,

Darren

Advertising rates depend on such things as business vertical and traffic - but before you rush to the bank, I really wouldn't recommend it as a way to generate significant revenues.

Advertisers are spoilt for choice, and you may find yourself having to cut your rates to appeal to lower budget companies who can perceive greater value in specific niche targeting.

Anyway, get away from Hull, like I did. :)

I would be interested to know if the forum believes it better to use your advertising space to advertise affiliate banners, from cj.com and similar, or sell your space on a rental agreement for X amount of time for X amount of money??

Hi,

as with all advertising try and cut out the middle men and you will get a better return. Personally I would try and run affiliate banners, put an agency contract in place to sell the space and ensure that you can still close leads that the site itself generates.

Depending on the size of the site you may find the advertisers approach you directly.

I do have another great trick up my sleeve which pays dividends. If you PM me your site, with traffic levels I will see if its suitable.

Can you suggest an agency?
