We have a press release to go out, giving our take on certain parts of this year's budget. It looks like I've already missed the boat - should I despatch the press release immediately?

On Budget Day or the next morning, if you want it picked up as news.
If you are targeting you local print/business media, it will depend on whether they are weekly/monthly and their deadline; for example Monday for Friday if it's a weekly paper.

Is it still news? There are still stories reflecting on the budget and with the election not far away you should be fine. Do a quick ring round of the main press you want to target and ask them if they would be interested in your story.

Hi,
I'm sending out a newsletter regarding the budget tomorrow; I know a lot of the news has blown over but with the forthcoming election, and Ask the Chancellors on C4 on Monday night the Budget and its implications are still very much at the forefront of peoples' minds. So definitely not too late, just submit it carefully, or change the angle slightly if you feel it's necessary!
Good luck with it!
Susan
