View Full Version : Introducing Harvey McKibbin Solicitors
UK Solicitors

Hi All
I am still nursing rapped knuckles having been censored for putting our phone number on my posts!
So, here goes with my non-spammy, non-advertising, not-in-any-way-too-overtly self-promoting but otherwise singing and dancing Introduction.
As you can see we are a law firm - and a damn good one too!
The senior staff have a "Magic Circle" background. (For those that are confused by this we aren't ex-magicians; it means we used to work in the City for one of the world's biggest firms - known to lawyers as "The Magic Circle".)
Because we have this background and culture it means that we provide the kind of services and service you'd expect of a big City firm, but at "Provincial" prices.
We also offer what I believe is truly unique amongst UK firms in that we give clients a 110% guarantee (ie if they aren't happy they get a full refund of our fees plus 10% to apologise for not living up to expectations).
Clearly we do this becasue we expect to deliver 100% of the time, and I'm very glad to say not one client has ever asked for their money back - which should tell you something.
Anyway, I'm now wondering if I am straying into "advertising" again (I'm a bit sick of typing stuff to find somebody with a "rubber" following behind and wiping out my beautiful prose)!
So - we don't do criminal law, and we are also not the people to contact if you need complex family law advice.
Otherwise, you can come to us in confidence that we'll do a good job for you - becasue if we don't we won't charge you!
You can find out all our contact details by looking for Harvey McKibbin Solicitors on Google - where you'll also see that our clients really do love us!
Anyway, I guess that is enough from me. Please do ask me any questions you like and I will do my best to give you the answers you need.
Mnay thanks for reading - and very best wishes in all your ventures large and small,
The Team at Harvey McKibbin

Hello
ha ha - I also know what you mean about posts being deleted.... I put my website address on one offering advice for someone to take alook an its was erased - oh well.
We have already said hello but just wanted to post to you.
Good luck, keep me posted on how things go from here - it will be interesting to see if any leads happen for any of us and how we all do going forward.:)

Just read your post, and I believe my earlier post was deleted for the same reason. We'll get the hang of it.
Dare I say "Have you tried handwritten direct mail" to draw people to visit your website? A handwritten letter almost compels you to read it. We are currently promoting this service, before handwriting becomes a lost art.
Good luck with your business.

Many thanks - I think you're right about handwritten letters... we got rid of our franking machine so that envelopes are handwritten now for the same reasons.
All the very best of luck with your business - if you ever need to ask a question don't hesitate!
Best wishes

Hi Earl
That all kind of depends on what you're looking for... Generally we'd expect to quote you fees that are 25-30% lower than typical "London" prices.
Is there anything in particular you had in mind? :)

Hi Zeno
I guess so in the main... but I'm a different kind of lawyer and I'm interested in Internet marketing and SEO, and also do franchise consultancy and have a background in finance as well as law, so I can converse (at least semi-intelligently) on a few topics you might not expect form your average lawyer...
Oh... We're FIFA Football agents too - so if you want to natter about the beautiful game fire away! : )
Thanks for the welcome - even lawyers have feelings! (Somewhere deep, deep down...)

Not baiting just looking for a price list , anyone can say they are cheap means nothing without the facts.
I have a price list on all my sites.:)
OK maybe easier to ask how much an hour do they charge.?
Most solicitors I have come across seem to make a figure up based on there evaluation of what they think a client can pay.
Not saying the OP is in this class ,but most legal fee's are outrageous for such unskilled work.

Earl
I never said we're "cheap" - just that we're great value compared to a similar skilled service in the City... We're very proud of the high quality work we do.
But I don't want to fight with you and you're entitled to you opinion if you think lawyers do "such unskilled work"... In fact there's nothing to ever stop a non-lawyer form "doing it themselves", if they are confident enough to do so...
Anyway, I'm posting on here offering free advice and opinion, so it doesn't get cheaper than that!:)

Hi Earl
You like Purple Godin? Me too...
Malcolm Gladwell is a pretty good thinker too (in my opinion - which as a lawyer, we know is over-rated! :)).
Hmmm... you seem like a very interesting chap Earl...
As for SEO I do have someone, but I am taking some of it into my own hands because it is a lot of smoke and mirrors otherwise and the fundamentals remain obscured if you remain ignorant... but some of it is v v basic! I'm sure you'd agree :D
I notice that despite your antipathy to the Legal Brethren some of your mates here are lawyers...

London Fees
£300 quid an hr partner. £200 senior or specialist. £150 Junior.
No wondor they gripe at £75 quid an hour legal aid or that is what it used to be. These figures are not of course what the typical solicitor earns. That is usually under £50K a year.
Not a fortune after tax if you live in London.
Mind you there is always the dream of becoming another Cherrie or Tony Blair and earning over $50,000 USD for an half hour after dinner speech.
BTW Brian. One would have expected a solicitor and expecially one from the magic circle to be a little bit more observant when reading a document or indeed forum post.
To ask what our Sir Earl does for a living the is not exactly what you would you call keeping your eye on the ball - is it. I mean it's in his signiture for gawns sake.
CHEAP CAR PARTS - VEHICLE WRAPPING.

Hi Robert
Thanks for the message...
I think the rates you're quoting are may be a little out of date - when I was at A&O even the paralegal rates were... well a lot! :)
Anyway, even "on the clock" we're a lot cheaper than this - as I said in fact! But the majority of the work we do is at an agreed "fixed cost". (And nobody anywhere offers you our 110% guarantee!)
I did notice (just a little bit) SirEarl's disdain for lawyers and his "car wrapping" services - which I assumed were affliate links to begin with, hence my question - but we've become fast friends since then! :) (Haven't we Earl?)
You're so right about SEO GURUs - they all, each and every one, know what's best and it is always NOT what "the other guy has said"...
I'm no expert on it for sure but I am looking and learning... :D

Hi Robert
I just try to "play nice" - unless hired to be nasty! :)
I always reckon its as easy to be friendly - and it does suit my personality better as you say. I once left a really sweet number in a great firm because I was being forced to do nothing but construction litigation - a brilliant money/bonus earner since it is always all on the clock at top whack but Jaysus you have to be a miserable, cantankerous fecker to do it for long (let alone enjoy it).
Anyway, I'm sure Earl is a nice guy (deep down)! :D
Thanks for the welcome to the forum - I really appreciate it. I'm enjoying it in here too - although I can see why you guys have acquired the "I have no life outside UKBF" status. It's kinda addictive, isn't it?

I've noticed several disputes in the legal forum arising out of the failure of new businesses to equip themselves with a Partnership Agreement or Shareholders Agreement...
As this intro forum is about new members I figured some will be new businesses (and even if you're not you should think about the above)!
Can't stress how important doing this is to not having stress further down the line - call it stitch in time saving nine hundred and ninety nine!! :)
Thanks all, for reading, and let us know if we can help you - we'd be delighted to do so and a chat is FREE! :)

Dear All New Businesses...
I just had a wee bit of a brainwave... (perhaps)...
I know things are often very tight at the start cash-wise, but you will often need legal advice or, let's say, to register your trademark (should be seen as "life insurance for business")...
So... maybe we can help...
If you think we might be able to use your company's services perhaps we can barter what you do have - expertise we can use - for what you don't - cash, and you can begin in better shape, with more confidence than otherwise...
Sound good? email us at info@harveymckibbin.co.uk...
:D

Dear All
Hmmm... this is slightly embarrasing...
Apparently some people have been having trouble with the info@ email address (or we have been having trouble at our end)...
First of all apologies - we're looking into why this might be so. Obviously it's rubbish to have a problem like this - so if you're someone who has sent something to info@ but not had a response please email us again at hkm@harveymckibbin.co.uk - this will most certainly work.
And to show our appreciation we'll give you a SECOND £HM50 note to spend with us, since we've put you out with our mistake. :)

It's ok though, the people at Wjunction were all over it in the manner of minutes.
