Last 4 VAT returns wrong

I have just realised that I have filled in my last 4 VAT returns wrong.

It doesn't effect any payments, but I have added items that are outside
the scope of VAT in to box 6.

Is this anything I should be worried about, and how do I correct the mistake?

Any damage may have been already done. HMRC will have fed this into their ZX Spectrum which might have flagged your reported results as abnormal.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it though. As far as I am aware, there are no penalties/fines for getting this part wrong so long as the VAT paid is OK.

You are allowed to make mistakes up to a certain limit, I doubt that the return will have been flagged as abnormal though.

To correct you should be able to just adjust your next return but it's worth giving them a quick call to clarify.
