hi there,
i know im new here....and believe me im no expert on anything....more jack of many master of none....apart from chilling. Is there anywhere on this forum for security feedback 'cause if so ive missed it somehow. Covering issues for people with websites/hosting, business and the home user who uses this site. maybe even its own section?
would anybody else like to see that here?
remember....most of the time you dont find out you have a problem, untill its to late!
if not i'll run and hide till someone tells me its ok to come out...hehe

Sounds like a good idea,
I'll throw in my tip.

I was converted after working with a client who used all manner of their boxes extensively.
You can pick the soho's up on ebay now for next to nothing, but if you do keep them up to date!

Personally I dont like panda, seen many i ssues with it and their supoprt is disgusting (not to say any others have better support, in this day and age good support is very hard to come by)
Regarding your other post, it appears to me that peerguardian does more harm than good, that said, I havnt tried it and dont intend to. With programs like this, firewalls, AV etc people will have their own opinions and stick to them, but just because someone uses it at home on one pc doesnt make it tried and tested.

agreed....i run 5 pc's here and never had a prob, 3 of them are online 27/7
as for Panda support, i heard some poor reports there aswell, but as an antivirus and firewall it rox, but thats my opinion, others may say norton is good but i may have to dissagree there...lol
each to his own! wish i never started this now :P

This is a useful listing:-

I don't think there is ever a single security solution, and best practice is to have more than one layer protecting everything. For instance my incoming email is filtered by 2 different scanners on my server and then by a third on the desktop. Nothing has ever got past all three, but it has got past two.
For absolute beginners, this the best step-by-step I have found:-

Something on the original bit of websites/hosting security it's worthwhile remembering if you go looking for flaws etc. that whilst you're doing it to be helpful you could fall foul of the computer misuse act.
