Please come and share your online business here.

I am currently selling high quality mens fashion accessories online, e.g. silk ties, skinny ties, bow ties, suspenders and belts. All products are packed nicely in gift boxes prior to shipment, making them perfect gifts for dads, boyfriends, friends, businessmen, entrepeneurs...

However I have got several problems for this business. First I am faced with stiff competition. I know there are many people doing what I am doing now. Second search engine marketing is damn expensive and I am not an expert in SEO; it takes long time to see the results. Third my site does not have much traffic. Fourth few people buy from my online store though I have very good products to offer. What would you do if you were me. I have got a tight budget so spending a huge sum on SEM is not my choice.

I started this business in February this year, and I've just passed through all the ordeals of starting a business. Now the real ordeal has come -- runing it successfully

Please come and share if you are facing the same situations.

You started in February, it's now not even the end of March. What are you expecting to happen especially as apparently you have no (or a very small) marketing budget? Did you think you could start a business, regardless of whether its online or b & m, and expect it to be a success in about four weeks with no budget to tell people that you even exist?

Please don't think I am being disrespectful but I think you need a bit of a reality check.

Overnight successes generally take years of hard work to achieve! At best with no real budget all you can do is keep chiselling away at your SEO (read anything and everything to learn this art or science if you can't afford to pay somebody to do it for you), continually be critical of your site and work to improve it daily and don't seriously expect it to earn you a real living from it anytime soon. Next year maybe but probably the year after.....

You have a long way to go with a lot to learn before you start to make a decent wage. Your site needs a lot of work, you need seo friendly urls for a start and all your title tags on your product pages should relate to the product your selling and not just contain your websites name.

Without seo, you will only ever see a trickle of traffic, start by reading http://forums.digitalpoint.com - your looking at around 2 to 6 months before you see results really, sometimes a lot longer if you target competitive keywords.
