Hi All,
seeing as this is all up for discussion.
Should we remove advertising avatars as well as banners from the threads,
I am not stating my position, but they work in the same way as banners and can be equally distracting.

I think they can stay, avatars dont take up any more space if they are advertsing or just an image. They also dont flash away and distract people. Also a lot of the avatars on here are personality, I know people by their avatars and it helps add to the community feel.

For me it depends on the size, I don't care what they say as long as they are small.
no bigger than 119 x 119 I think.
ah hem which makes your one too big ;)

If Crus tried to change it now it would only allow him a 90x90. Thats what happened to me when I took off my photo.

I don't see anything wrong with a static avatar - it doesn't impinge on the message and if they stay static (i.e. not a blinking, flashing, distracting, annoying, nuisance) then I think it's just fine!

I voted No as I like the use of company logo's as avatars.
By the way, I never reduced the maximum size for the avatars, they were previously set to 80x80 but the forum software had a bug that meant it didnt work. When I increased the size to 90x90 it started working ;)

personally i cannot see the harm in the advertising avatars, this is after all a business forum!
makes sense we know what each other does, plus i think it adds personality to the member. Would be boring if we were all the same.
I disagree with using the forum for head on adveritsing, it is what the ukbf offers forum is for anyways.
Other than this, if its not broke don;t fix.
Crus i agree with nicthe chick , that is one of the ugliest of buggers i have ever seen. So glad its not you
