Selected Projects

1. Developed a web based application named HelpDesk to handle the different requests of City of Bloomington of ITS needs and problems so that can be processed and handled by User Support Group. The application was completely designed and developed by myself using JAVA servlets with Oracle backend database. The application provides search engine, reports capabilities, and email service to provide the users the feedback about their request and informs the ITS members about the problem/request when the request is assigned to them.

2. Developed a web based application to facilitate the operations of processing Housing Rental Permits for the property owners in Bloomington City by the Housing & Neighborhood Development Department. The applications tracks all the steps needed to issue these permits starting from the owner’s request, inspections, follow-ups, billing, etc. The system includes an extensive search engine and reports. Totally developed by Java servlets and Oracle as the back end database.

3. A web based computers hardware and software inventory system written in struts, JSP and Servlets. Handles all the basic inventory operations, search, reports, bills.

4. Worked on projects involving enhancing a prototype OS called Nachos as part of my Advanced OS course. The following features were developed:
UNIX like System calls, added support for multithreading and multi process tasks, added a virtual memory system, developed a minimal Distributed file system. All projects involved extensive coding in C++.

5. Automated 3D Grid Adaptation, as my project for graduate independent study class and implemented in the Lab for Computational Geodynamics (LCG) as part of my research study. Computational part is written in C++ and the GUI part in Java.

6. Software Engineering, the proposed project is to enhance the Data Scope package used in seismology to handle more one seismogram at a time and provide the means to study a bunch of seismograms that are related to certain events such as earthquakes and explosions. For more details about this project and up to date information follow this link. The project consisted of the whole cycle of developing a software product for a real client. Starting with requirement specification, functionality, design, coding, testing, installation and documentation.

7. A web-based LDAP browser; a set of Servlets to browse an LDAP server that provide the user with dynamic HTML pages of the LDAP directory tree starting from the top and giving the user the option of navigating in the tree and checking the attributes of the contexts. A simple search engine was also included. Tomcat apache was used as the web server.

8. Instant Message Service using Remote Method Invocation Protocol (RMI) based on the Simple Object Access protocol (SOAP) and on a simple distributed event model using Java XML, and C++.

9. A federated system of servers which will be used to "broadcast" events over a wide area. It is also a study of simple routing in a dynamic network using an LDAP server. It consisted of clients sending events to other clients through its favorite server.

10. Java-Spaces like framework on top of a more traditional distributed computing framework, implements a remote method invocation using polling to replace long calls. The project is based on problem generator that post problems to be solved in the space where the workers can find and take to solve and post the answers in the space where can be
grabbed by interested clients.
