Some nice websites in your portfolio. Why do you host in US?

Hi Rob, glad you like some of our work.

We have used the same host for a long time now. They are pretty awesome. Superb support, 99.9% uptime and excellent on price.

Not at all Rob. Google doesn't index on where your hosting servers are based.

You have twice wrongly used apostrophes on that rotating pink banner.

Yes I noticed Dawg, but as that version of our portfolio will be changing later today it seems pointless fixing it now.

By the way Dawg, your website is running Wordpress 2.8.6, there are a number of major vulnerabilities in that version. I'd suggest upgrading to the current version of 2.9.2

crewgirl25a, yea that's the one, can't post links until made more posts :)

Cheers.

I'm not blaming anyone but myself for this, but I wish I hadn't upgraded to 2.9.2
White screen of ferking death. Re-upload, reload the database and only the front page exists.
Reload the copy and the copy database and same thing.
The blog was happily sitting there being 'vulnerable' and now its happily ferking dead.
Bolox.

You mean you didn't attempt to back-up the site and .db first? Oops!

I can't actually see it being dead from an upgrade tho.

By the way, did you downgrade if not you didn't upgrade it correctly:

<meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.8.6" />

Still 2.8.6.

Site backed up and Db backed up before upgrade attempted..specifically because upgrade being done.

Just can't get it to work again using new WP, old WP, backed up Db done minutes before upgrade, or backup Db done automatically every week.
So the back up is not the oops.:)

I've tried to revert to the back up which is 2.8.6, which is why that is showing.

Manual upgrade or via wp-admin?

Dawg
25th March 2010, 19:08
Manual, as I think it was too large for the auto, (it goes back to 2005), and the auto just wouldna play ball, which is why I had left it...procrastination and sheer old fashioned bloody idleness..

I've used the wp updater on numerous sites, old and new and it works perfect. The only thing I can think that might have messed up is that whoever built your site has made edits inside of the wp core files which always get updated during an update.

No. don't think thats it, as I might have remembered doing that, but still, possible.
I'm going to work on the theory that the Db is not reloading properly as it's too big for a straight folder upload to phpmyadmin, and I'll try copying to Notepad, and then pasting from there.
The monkey/typewriter/million attempt approach to WP.:)
