I have no problem with it at all, providing it's not huge. I like to know what people do, what they specialise in and what their website is, although that aj kid confuses be by having Mark's banner. It's just a quick way of referring to who said what. The spammers don't stay around long enough to bother with banners.

So far it's looking promising for banners then, but I agree with Mac, it's confusing when a member has someone elses banner.

Lets wait a day or two for some more replies

Like you two, I like to see banners but agree that they need to be not too long.

The question is almost irrelevant.

I view this site with Firefox and Adblock and so I don't see any banners.

Others might choose to see them, that is their choice.

What is more important is do we have the choice to see them or not?

thats what we are deciding, here kent. Most of us have removed our banners and we are just seeing what most people prefer.

Not fussed really! Banners make the page more colourful instead of the blue tones. Then again Crus' recent BUY MY LINKS banner put me off a bit...

just posted this in another forum, so will copy and paste here

I don't think there is anything wrong with banners in sigs, except that they don't generate revenue for the upkeep of the forums and maybe stop people paying for having a placed banner when they can have it in their sig for free. Of course, the bottom line is that it is Ozzy's call.

This is the kinda thing that maybe Ozzy could charge for that would not affect PM's etc and keep most people happy.

Some of the banners are very nicely made and look good !

I voted 'Don't Care'.

Because I don't! Although seeing a big banner would put me off the person - I don't think there is any need for overly large banners.

But I usually don't take too much notice of banners in sigs because after a while my anti-banner software in my eyes block it out. :D For me, what I think about the design is more important than what it's advertising!

Bye :D

((I'm still impressed by KashFlows banner on the right - really stands out))

Well thank you. The lovely KashFlow banner was designed by me.

This implies that only those with banners can vote?

I have voted don't care,

how about slimline banners 468 x 30 instead,
they would be slightly less invasive but still brighten the page.

I could then do a nicer LINKSPONSOR.CO.UK one.

I'm not a banner-ee myself, so probably don't have the same interest as others, but there are a couple of minor-ish points:

1. It is a little annoying that 3 consecutive one-line posts do not fit on a single screen because of signatures or avatars or whatever it is that makes them take up half a page each.

Also, if the same person posts a lot in the same thread then even an (initially) unobtrusive banner or message starts to get on your wick when it has flashed past for the 10th time in 5 seconds.

Maybe, as has been suggested, a compromise on size/height of signatures/avatars?

Just a thought.

I think, little none flashing banners are not too bad. Personally I like my avatar and a neat sig best :D

Jayne you could make the sentance Businesses for Sale and Watercolour paintings bold and pale blue to join up your avatar, like mine. Ozzy quite likes it! LOL

I really like seeing the banners but agree there should be a size limit imposed. All the other forums allow banners.

Like someone mentioned before it helps me identify the person!

No, more like pink fluffy candy floss

Mmmm, candy floss. For its sensual touch upon my lips, melting fragrant moments upon my tongue, transmitting wicked thoughts to my mind . . .

Mmm, is this Claire or candy floss . . .
cheers, Nigel
