I have to reload my laptop how can i backup all of my outlook messages and contacts?

All of your Outlook stuff is contained in one file, probably called outlook.pst. It's exact location will depend on your OS and the version of Outlook.

You can find it by searching on *.pst

Copy this file to somewhere else and then restore it.

Hi Taz

Outlook has an "Import and Export Wizard" just for this purpose. Go the "File" menu and select "Import and Export".

Outlook express is similar use "File" - "Export" to backup and "File" - "Import" to restore.
