Hi,

Ive got a site where i sell my companies products/services. Im about to aquire a new website in addition to my existing one.

When items are bought on this new site, can i set my paypal details up so the money from both sites can go into my existing paypal account.

Im sure i can and ive already asked paypals 'customer service' but had no reply.

Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me, but 2 seconds ago, paypal just emailed and said i cant do that!

Copied from their email:

You may only add one URL to your PayPal account. One PayPal account may only accommodate one website. I apologise, you may not use one PayPal account with multiple websites.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to email us again at your most convenient time. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

Yours sincerely,
Maffy

Hmm,
I do it with both of my websites to one account.
You just specify the return URL within your ecommerce package (depending on which one you use)

I have no idea why you couldn't utilise paypal as a payment solution for as many sources as you wanted?

Unless you're using the API maybe, as it might flag up an error if it starts getting requests from multiple sites.

If you have a business or corporate account with PayPal, and have a number of websites, I would highly recommend the use of an "umbrella" company. Have your websites operate under one company name and ensure you make this clear on your websites. Better yet, point all your payments to your umbrella website as well.

There is nothing more worrying than buying music CD's from "SuperDooperMusic Website", to be transferred to make a payment to PayPal Account owned by "FantasticDryCleaners Co.". Try a generic name, if you haven't already! ;)

Hope this helps,

It depends on how your shopping cart works. I'm fairly sure you are allowed to do it, if you can technically get it to work.

If you are using IPN, then you need to provide a URL within your PayPal account which is where the IPN notification is sent to. You can only have one IPN url so if each site needs a different IPN url it's not going to work.

Thanks for the tip.
It will be clear on the new site that its wholly owned by my orignal company. At the moment the names only differ by one word as it is, so it wont be much of a change. Do you think that will make a difference to whether paypal lets me use two sites but one account (re the original question)? In their reply they did say that you can only link one URL to the account.

Correct, generally PayPal only want to see one URL. I have two websites that have two seperate paypal merchant accounts.

However, if both websites are small, the use of an umbrella website/company would be the best thing for you to do that deals with all your payments. Especially, as one person mentioned earlier, the IPN (instant payment notifications) can only be sent to one URL. PayPal's general policy is one website per account, so what they have said to you is correct.

Hope this helps,
