the links shown under our llisting on maps have just appeared over time so i assume they're organic & from google itself, i definitely haven't added them. (i've probably made a fool of myself there using the wrong terms, hope you know what i mean!)

i've just looked at the edit option for the listing, you can correct your map location but i can't find an option to remove it. let me know if you find one! :)

Hi,

You may find this google help useful http://maps.google.co.uk/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=68480

Also just look to the link to this page on any google map your viewing and this should give your the HTML code to cut and paste onto your site.

no on any google map in the top right there is the work link. Click it and you can follow the instructions on how to link to that map.

e.g. this map
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=bank%20of%20england&aql=&gs_rfai=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

simple like is http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=swansea&sll=51.60096,-0.142822&sspn=2.125665,4.938354&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Swansea,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.617803,-3.946495&spn=0.004317,0.009645&t=h&z=17

or embed the map in your page

<iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&amp;source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=swansea&amp;sll=5 1.60096,-0.142822&amp;sspn=2.125665,4.938354&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear= Swansea,+United+Kingdom&amp;ll=51.629793,-3.942804&amp;spn=0.004317,0.009645&amp;t=h&amp;z=14&amp;output=emb ed"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&amp;source=embed&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=swansea&amp;sll =51.60096,-0.142822&amp;sspn=2.125665,4.938354&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear= Swansea,+United+Kingdom&amp;ll=51.629793,-3.942804&amp;spn=0.004317,0.009645&amp;t=h&amp;z=14" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small>

Reading saxondale's post I see I have missed out information you need.

You can add your business to google maps here
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com% 2Flocal%2Fadd%2FbusinessCenter%3Fgl%3DGB%26hl%3Den-GB&service=lbc&hl=en-GB&gl=GB

adam - im confused? are you talking about adding a google map/business listings to your own website?

if i've understood the orginal query, the OP (& me) were talking about our own listings on google maps. when you click through for more info, maps automatically shows the address you've got listed for your business - in our case, this happens to be our home address...not necessarily where our business is actually carried out.

Lexxy,

sorry, I have caused confusion. I miss read the first post and thought the question was "how do I add a google maps page with my business showing on it on my website site" but as I understand it now the question is "how do I add my business to google maps"

Hopefully from my posts it shows how to do both.

no need to put the house number though - then just move the "incorrect" marker to somewhere else .................... job done.

can i move the marker anywhere i want in my city or does it have to be on the same street ie move it to one of my neighbours house? (which i doubt i would want to do)

Just to clarify the question- In google maps business listings when you click on 'more' next to the business i have noticed some businesses have links going out to external local directory sites they are on, but i cant see an option to do this anywhere on my business listing?

Sorry didnt make it clearer for all:)

but have you "claimed" the listing - click on it and top right corner should be a button, you then verify yourself to google and you can edit it in the LBC control panel, add pictures, links etc

i haven't added any links to other listings for our business so some of them must appear organically?

Google just does it automatically.
