Hi all,

Had an interesting experience today that i thought i might share with you.

some time ago i was producing my product, got the CD label on and the DVD box label.
Then realised a mistake, though not a critical one on the back.

Thinking no one but me would really notice, i decided to shelve the product rather than bin it.

Se for me, duff CDs, including product gets recycled, i have even considered giving some away as corporate gifts (coaster and the like)

Anyways, to cut a long short, i decided to throw a few business cards in a donate them to charity.
I gave a few copies of some of my courses away to Oxfam. Owing to the fact the they only sell books etc. Clearly book worms visit the place.

I went in left the bag, wandered off. Then it dawned on me that i did not recomment a max price they should sell them for (did not want them charging more than me)
So i went back an hour later to be told, we cannot exept them. They are helping you to advertise.

I cannot argue this was not the motive, but i don't get it!
The keep the money from selling them after all?

Its the same as saying, we cannot except these books, its helping the author to advertise!
Ok my company card was put in them as well, but these could have been binned!

There are times i wonder just what some charities do want :-)

Oh well it was a nice idea. Needless to sayi did not take them back, i told the lady to keep them or to pass them onto someone who might benefit.

seems stupid to me, I mean like you say, books have a title and author on, clothes have a brand name on them, dvd's/videos have the film company and actors on the front, seems they must not need money as badly as they make out.....

Thats crazy, my local charity shop took one of my paintings and I had superglued a business card onto the back of the frame. How do they know that it's you who produced the CD? If you just left the bag it might have been something you had bought and didn't want anymore.

I am glad i am not the crazy one who thinks this.

All i said was it was a donation from my company. Perhaps i should not have said that.
Even so it still makes no sense to me.
Books have publishers names on them, as Confused rightly said, clothes have tags on them?

Confused now?

ps, oxfam have shot themselves in the foot.
I have a range of books i am looking to get rid of.

But through donatiing

ASP made simple could be helping to advertise the Made simple published series.

Various books on A+ etc.

Nope i shall donate them elsewhere.
