how quick till I get on web

Hi,

I have just launched my website and wondered on average how long it takes before google/yahoo etc crawl the site.

Have done google tools web master etc & link, plus done links on 6 sites inc. facebook & a blog

you could be looking at 4 weeks on average sometimes quicker, the fact you have 6 links pointing at your url on different sites makes it stand a chance of being quicker.

Its kind of an un-answerable question but their is a "rough idea" formula.

and yet i have had them spidered in 2 days before so its pot luck

I think the average is about 3 days to a week. Anyway, thats what I have noticed with our sites.

Quickest way that i have found is by submitting your site map to google, another trick i use is buying a link on a high pr site for a couple of days, either work well, i generally get them spidered within a day or two, the 6 links may help depending on how popular the websites are that you have placed them on. You could always post an article on enzine with some deeplinks in it, this is a dead cert to getting google to come to you quicker.

And remember there is a big difference between Google discovering the site and indexing. If it's a big ecommerce site the first few pages can appear in a few days but can take months to fully index the whole site.

Be very careful as well with the sitemap, it it hasn't been set up properly all the wrong pages can rank well.
