Hello

Previously I was a contractor through a Limited Company. I was using an accountant which charged well over £1k pa

I've not been using the company although it isn't dormant and there have been odd transactions

How can I avoid having to pay loads for an accountant to do some very simple end of year accounts where there hasn't even been any turnover?

Do you think it's possible to do it myself because I can't really get it wrong if there is no profit, can I?!

thanks

Hi

It's not about the profit or loss but the actual transactions, making it up to balance sheet and profit and loss (depends how confident you feel :) )

If you don't want to do it yourself then maybe have a look at cheap accounting (http://www.cheapaccounting.co.uk/indexservicesltdsup.php)who I think charge around £360 for ltd co accounts which is certainly cheaper than you were paying :)

Good luck

Why do you assume an accountant would charge the same amount for a dormant company set of accounts that was charged to an active contractor company no doubt turning over a substantial income.

You should at least ask your accountant to give you a price for the work.
