It's speculated that on average, most people give up their new year resolutions after 14 days.
How many have stuck at it or just failed miserably?

I have given up making New Year resolutions. I do however set myself targets throughout the year for different aspects of my business and personal life.

Yes mine are going according to plan. I make resolutions all year round but new years resolutions seem to add that bit of extra weight for some reason.
People just don't stick at new years resolutions simply because they don't set themselves realistic goals. so at the first sign of trouble they give in.
I think it also helps not to tell other people what your goals are, because there is a tendency to make them sound more exciting than they actually are, and then you can't think them through properly.
Also! (you've got me started now!) People feel obliged to make new years resolutions and iron out all the bad things that they do, but maybe they haven't thought why they would like to iron those things out, and if they actually do or not, or if they think it will just please other people. Then it's never going to work.
I didn't intend to turn this into something deep and meaningful, I'm not sure what's happened, I haven't even had my first cup of tea for the day yet.

I do them all year round and not just at the start of the year. I have got soooo much to do this year it is un-true.
I find there are two great ways to keep your resolutions. The first thing is to tell people your resolutions and make promises, that way you are letting a whole load of people down if you fail. The second is to involve people in the rewards of keeping your resolutions so others will encourage you.
For example if you are quitting smoking then tell all your friends and family so you have little opportunity to smoke anywhere. Then make a promise that you put money into a box instead of buying fags and once a fortnight take your partner or friend out to dinner or something. This way that person will really encourage you because they get to go out only if you stick to your resolutions.
This year I am aiming to cycle from London to Paris to help a charity called c-r-y. My friend’s daughter died last year who was 11, so this is my way of getting involved. I have told the family, Amy’s (the girl who passed) school and dance class I am going to do it, so I will be literally letting hundreds of people down if I fail.
All my other resolutions tie into the bike ride, they are to get fitter, drink less, exercise more, go to bed earlier and get up earlier. I am not a morning person at all.
