View Full Version : Wholesale and retail prices on same website?

I'm now in a position where I can offer wholesale prices on some of the items I sell.
I was going to list the wholesale prices on the same site, which is currently aimed at consumer level, but is this a good idea? Would it annoy or put people off.
I've decided, at the moment, to just have a"Contact us for wholesale prices" link, but I would like an automated purchase option.
Has anyone been down this road?

My gut instinct is that you shouldn't publish the wholesale prices. As a consumer, I think it would put me off buying if I could see the markup displayed as blatantly as that.

It would probably cause some upset if you show wholesale prices.

You can provide wholesalers with a username and password which when they are logged in shows them the wholesale prices next to the retail.
Its up to you how you qualify a wholesaler but if they go to the trouble of signing up for an account I would say they have a pretty high level of interest.

Yep I agree with Liam - retailer prices prior to login (and after login for retail cllients) and wholesale prices after login for wholesalers.
It's easily done :)

Definitely agree not to publish the two prices side by side. Imagine you wanted to buy a TV (for example), the retail price would be several hundred percent more than the retail. Consumers wouldn't want to buy if they saw how cheaply it could be bought (and certainly not from someone that advertises that fact!).
Sorry.
