Hi There,
I want your guys opinion on a new product i have in mind introducing.
Basically its a promotional keyring with a flat torch built into it. It has one side with a button on it and the other side with the printed details of your company on it.
Prices would be from around £2.80 when ordering a min qty of 50.
If a single one was required it would be £5.00.
Your views please!

Nice idea, I can never see the ignition in my car!
Also have you thought about shopping trolley keyrings, they are really popular.

I'm sure I owned one of those about 20 years ago. It came in very handy sometimes when I arrived home really pissed and couldn't find the door lock and light switch.
I have no idea where I picked it up from, but some businesses must buy them or else how would I have come into possession of one?
What sort of response did you get from the car-yards, locksmiths, etc?

Ive only started to introduce them so i havent been around places yet. Would it interest people on the forum for £5 to have a single one made?
And Claire i haven't really looked into shopping trolley keyrings as we find our standard ones very popular! We are also going to be doing shaped keyrings soon to sizes such as: vans, hearts, mobile phones, houses, keys. etc

Callum

Hi Callum,
I wouldn't pay £5 for a key-ring with a torch. But I'm sure your idea of vans, hearts, houses etc would be a winner!
Cheers, Nigel

Hi Nigel,
if you ordered a larger qty of the torch keyrings prices would drop to around £3.
I have some rough idea prices for "shaped" keyrings and they are as follows:
Any shaped keyring qty x 200: £170.00 Delivered
What do you think?

Are these LED keyrings? if so I know the ones you mean, I have no clue about your costs to print them, but you can buy the keyrings cheap from "bargain" shops. That said, I think they would make a good gizzit.

They have a light inside that emits a good sized beam and can be personlised with your logo and contact details.

That's a good idea. In my previous biz. They used to have shopping trolley Keyrings with a plastic pound coin with company logo on both sides for the trolley. They sold a lot of them and still do plus it promotes youe biz.

Once upon a time, there was this Finished Artist (FA) (who thought he was a graphic designer) who almost got bounced out of Australia because he was an illegal immigrant.
Before those horrid uniforms from the immigration department caught up with him, he quit his job and abode, and headed off to the nearest auction in search of bankrupt stock to sell at various Trash&Treasure markets around Sydney.
(Yes I know that I previously said that FA went into signwriting, but this happened before that happened - okay? :) )
Anyway, FA had formed a dubious partnership with The Blackpool Ram, a dispicable, brothel-owning, ex-patriot rogue from Blackpool who reckoned he could buy helium-filled balloons for 10 cents each from the auctions, and sell them for a dollar a-piece at the Trash&Treasure markets.
FA wanted to buy calculators, walkmans, game-boys, and other vogue thingies. FA just wouldn't believe that stupid things like baloons and candy bars (which were way past their sell-by date) could ever make a profit.
Now FA was okay at arithmetic, and after the first weeks's trading, was astonished to find that the number 1 selling item was toothbrushes, and the number 2 selling item was soap.
The straightest path is not always the most convenient. ;)

i do like the idea of a this as a product.
not sure if £5.00 for a one off is a bit expensive, but as you have said if it does not look like a "pound shop" item then maybe
car hire companies would be a good one to target with these. they all put branded keyrings on the hire car keys
look forward to seeing a pic and maybe buying a few

If anyone is interested we can supply trolley coins and also bespoke shaped (including 3D) keyrings in metal or pvc.
Quantities can be as low as 100 although orders of 250-500 are far better priced per item.

I'll have a think about it, not sure how much 1 colour would be of use to me.
I'll stop chatting to you on this thread now though as we might get told off.

Hi Claire M, when you said you were interested in a shopping trolley keyring i though you meant....... well never mind.
I've just realised that you mean the the token thingy's that go in the coin slot :D
I thought I came across a charity who was selling these a while back, maybe creative keyrings could manufacture these on behalf of other charity's and give some of the proceeds to said charity, they might become the latest 'compassionate item' like the wristbands!

Hi Callum,
They are great, bet they'd sell well in camping shops. When we bought our caravan, they keys for it came on an advertising key ring from the shop, maybe an idea for you.

Look good Callum, bit out of my price range, but I htink they would go well at car dealerships, hire companies, camping shops etc just like everyone here has said.
I feel a mailout campaign coming on.....where are our designers?

The size of this new keyring is actually the size of a standard keyring. It just looks much bigger in the picture :D

I wouldn't pay £5 - £3.99 is a little easier on the pocket - you could approach car sales companies, car leasing companies, car & van hire companies- they all have keyrings with their company names & contact numbers on them. You could develop serious revenue streams from companies such as these.
You have a very marketable product i wish you the best of luck.
