I have a folder with 2 files in a .fla and .swf = flash menu bar.

Im trying to edit the menu bar, and failing as i am crap on adobe flash cs4.

I open the .swf file and the full flash menu bar comes up in a seperate box, i click debug and list objects to get the html code up, but am struggleing to edit it?

i also open the .fla file up, but just the black background of the menu comes up, not the flash menu wording so there is nothing there i can edit.

Ive tried lookin on the net for the answer but no luck,

Nick .

.swf is the compiled flash object for the browser. .fla is the flash source file, this is the one that you can edit in Flash CSx.

When you open it it's probably an issue with what layers (or flash equivelent) you can / can't see. There should be some kind of tools / properties selector to choose which assets in the fla you can work on.

Yes there were tools it was a case of switching between menu's, its flippin complicated. I managed to rename the buttons, just have to point them to the right url's and thats my adobe flash problem over :).

Yeah Flash can be a bit tricky sometimes, it's not very intuitive on first use. I think once you get your head around timelines and stuff like that it becomes a bit easier - but I'm glad I don't have to use it!
