Hi everyone,
I've always avoided SEO software incase it's black hat, however a friend of mine insists on the following software;

PressBot
DirectoryBot
Market Samurai
SENuke
BruteForse SEO
IBP

I was wondering if there are any worth looking at and any that should be steered clear of at all costs?

Thanks everyone!
Jen

SEO software - in my opinion - is very much marketed at people to give them a warm fuzzy feeling that they don't need to learn SEO to any real degree, and instead can get a piece of software to get all the hard work done for them.

Nothing is further from the truth.

You list a number of autosubmission tools, which are traditionally used by blackhats in tandem with article rewriting software to post junk text to lots of sites at the same time.

Maybe provides an edge in some industries, but for the mainstream, I would question the benefits.

Another problem is that these tools seem focused on providing link volume, when you should really be thinking about link quality.

You'll also find many require a lot more work than you originally think, but the returns overall are going to be pretty poor.

Let's be clear - Google has been trying to devalue directories and article sites for years. Which there are some that are worth submitting to, best to do so manually in order to differentiate your content.

Overall, don't expect "SEO software" to provide any magic solutions for you, any more than installing Microsoft office will run a business for you. :)

I,Brian has just about nailed it.
G frowns upon stuff like this and we know the big G is all seeing all hearing.
I would go anywhere near any of them.

All they look like to me is automated software submission tools.

I've used IBP before years ago and it gives you an automatted way of checking onpage SEO factors and comparing it to your competitors. It might be worth you taking a closer look at.

This one looks as dodgy as hell:

Why do people go for those god-awful landing pages? They imbue all the trust of a second-hand car salesman

Yea, the IBP demo is quite pretty - hence me wondering about the others, but I read the synopsis and sneered a little bit.

The person I know swears by them, but I had a look at the sites they apparently got to page 1 on google with and although competitive most of the work was done by the domain covering the search term, so I wasn't too impressed - just seemed like a bunch of spammy type stuff,

thought i'd check with you guys first, i've been studying SEO on and off for 3 years, so not really a newbie, but always interested in new possible avenues of exploration!

Thanks everyone :)

You take that back. Got to be an "ism" of some kind.

Indeed, most of the tools mainstream SEO's tend to focus on are data-gathering tools.

Its not necessary that every SEO Software is using Black Hat Techniques to rank a website high on search engines.I think the SEO Softwares suggested by your friend are quite genuine.I will also check them them out .

Hmmm, SEO software is pretty much dated in my eyes.

I have been doing SEO for over 12 years, during this time i have come across software to build doorway pages, rank checkers, and recip link builders.

Yes these all worked for the old Google when it was in it's infancy, but now the big G has developed it's own algorithyms to combat most software, so stay away and learn to do this manually and by the book or face the consequences.

Yes it's hard work, yes its' tedious and yes it's rewarding.

I Earl.

I think the hard work is with the off site marketing for example the link building, social media marketing etc.
The online stuff is easy and straightforward once you know how.

Cheers.

Market Samurai is good for gathering data, but you can do it all manually and save yourself a hundred quid.

Wise move..

Just apply common sense and you can do it yourself ..Starter for you..
if you want to be found for "Accountant in Wrexham" then a start move is to at least mention you are one a few times in your text and stuff ;)

SEO software are always useful and reduce your work when you have bunch of assignment to do...it less the work and reduce the human efforts and maximize the results also if tool is effective
