Hi all,
Am just wondering if any of you are entering all sorts of awards happening around the country. I know that this is the time of year they begin (or in a few months).
I know of the shell-live wire and this one http://www.aibep.co.uk/entrepreneurs/business_plan_challenge.aspx
Anymore?

Hi Eiman,
I entered one last year www.startups.co.uk and may do a couple this year. They are good for a bit of a 'plug' especially so if you do okay. I think Mark of Weeds by Design or something is going to enter one or two also.

Yes, I'm planning on entering two myself and I'm putting together entries for two of my clients as well.
One is a national trade award scheme and the others are all regional awards.
Fantastic way for companies to get publicity. Even if you don't win most awards are tied into a publication and short-listed businesses can usually get a published profile and PR from it.
I wouldn't spend too much on those that charge to enter but regional ones are usually local authority sponsored and free to enter.

I'm a judge at one tomorrow; why not try it for next year?
(It's a decent one Sponsored by BT, the Improvement and Development Agency and Brother)

Hi Fiona B. If you don't mind a bit of extra competition, could you please give me a link to the 'trade' award?
cheers, Nigel

Here it is but it is quite specialised. The client I am entering is a training provider. You can enter from the point of view of being a company that trains its staff well though.

Ok,,
Contract Journal is running a best Employer of 2006 for companies in construction field - could be worth a look but up agaist a lot of big boys?
Last year they also had an award scheme with 14 categories including Specialist Contractors.

Can you team up with a garden designer/landscaper to put in a joint entry (with use of really unusual fencing as major part of the design of course) for one of the many garden comps?
Check out your local newspapers and council/business link/enterprise agency for details of any regional award schemes.
