Potential readers can make snap decisions in just 50 milliseconds (http://www.nature.com/news/2006/060109/full/060109-13.html).
Not long apparently!

When people view a website. they will have an opinion and judge . within secs. but everyone's judgement will be diferent pending on web experience. ;)

I click off quick if it's covered in ads, or a pop up jumps out on me. Too much tiny writing puts me off to and colours, plain and it looks boring, too much bright colour looks naff :D

initial reaction, "Oh no, not again"
2nd reaction, "Oh dear, another site that claims to raise money for charity"
I would not trust anyone that claims to raise money for charity unless they specify the charity and I can confirm with that charity that they are an official fund raiser.
