I took my laptop to someone house at the weekend they dont have the internet but have the sky full package and pay the full amount.

Does anyone know if sky would give them any free internet access just for light use like when i visit with the laptop. Presumably they would need to send some kit out in the post.

Thanks. Just getting used to my new lappy that we won in the competition so sorry for questions!

Shouldnt be a problem. If you have wireless router, then you can connect to sky internet via wireless, if its wired, just plug cable in router, other end in your PC.

If there is no internet, there is no internet :) But still you can try to receive some wireless from next house, as in 50% cases people dont set passwords.

Be aware that it's an offence to use another persons/company's network without their knowledge, whether they've secured it or not.

Hope that was tongue in cheek dude.

A security service telling people to piggy back and hence break the law? Come on

This is illegal, so I wouldn't recommend it.

You could use a PAYG dialup connection. Most cost the same as a local call, but you can seriously rack up a high phone bill for your friend if you're not careful.

PAYG wireless 'dongle' may be the way to go and a LOT cheaper than a PAYG ADSL.

Google them and pick one ;)

Called Mobile broadband. Most of the networks offer PAYG option. Quite fast also, 3.6mbit/s

VM now go up to 7.2mbps too.

Cannot vouch for service but I suspect they use T-Mobile infrastructure as they do on the mobile phones...

Oops, forget what I just said, use PAYG mobile broadband.

I'm stuck in the dark ages at times

we're on the top tv pack with landline (free evening & w'end calls) & broadband with sky, i think the BB element only costs £5 per month with this set up. wireless modem was sent FOC.

I have just received mobile broadband and it is great for on the train and any other situation where I find myself without broadband connection.

You can get a pre paid one with a good size (15gb) usage time, this can be used at any time.

Vodaphone do one where the credit does not expire. Just make sure you use it once every 6 months of the sim goes.

Worth having as insurance for any small business using the internet.
