I was watching Derren Brown on the TV the other day and he was doing that "guess which hand the coin is in" trick.
I'm curious, does anyone know how he does that?

Yes he is very good at reading body language.
My ex-husband has set up a business doing all this sort of thing - he was the fat chap on the New Years Eve countdown doing things to that posh lady racing commentator/presenter in London. He has shown me a few things and it is all very clever stuff but mostly based on body language/manipulation of people's behaviour through suggestion.
I saw Derren Brown live last year and it was fantastic but also quite unpleasant. He does more freakshow stuff than he could get away with on TV and parts of it are really gory. I was working at the theatre at the time and the manager told me afterwards they had 3 people feeling faint and having to leave and one person actually vomited!

Hi Fiona
My God what was he actually doing to get that reaction?
I agree he is very entertaining to watch, although when he did the programme where he had a guin to his head etc, I thought that was taking it a bit far.

He did what is called the blockhead routine. He hammers a big nail right up his nose. sort of thing you usually get in places like Jim Rose's circus etc. And then someone from the audience had to pull it out. I think this was the part that really made people feel ill.
He also did laying on a bed of broken glass (and being at the theatre, yes, it was real broken glass) and got a big chap from the audience to stand on him.
He also did a rather peculiar routine where a woman from the audience kept having to slap him very hard!

Lol, kinky thing. The hammer and nail thing sounds awful. I just don't enjoy watching things like that. Does anyone know what those two blokes were called who used to be on channel 4 doing similar stuff?

Penn and Teller.
I love Penn and Teller.
Guess I'm just a bit of a weirdo.
