Hi

Our website is in the process of being redesigned. Our new designers have suggested the following:

***sorry - website removed**** under construction!!!!

I would really appreciate feedback on this home page design, as obviously it will set the tone for the whole website and our corporate image.

Needless to say, it's not in frames :D

Thanks very much.

Karen

Hi Karen,

Well if you're switching from frames it's a good start.

I would say that it's a bit of a mixed message on the site. You are called Silver Pure Silver but the front page shows glass crystal products. When people hit your site they will be expecting silver and then they'll not see it straight away. (Although the decanters are a nice pic) - it may subconsciously not 'add up' to them - it's one of those things where they are expecting one thing and get another but can't just put their finger on it - but won't buy because of that 'something' ;)

The layout looks ok - I take it your shopping cart that will be totally integrated and not differ in style at all?

I'd say a vast improvement just for moving on from frames and the look and feel so far is smart - you must be pleased :)

Lastly (small things) maybe add a date to your copyright and your address in the footer too. Oh and make your refund policy VERY reassuring.

Hi Karen,

From a non-techy point of view, I think it looks much better - very smart. It would appeal to me as shopper, but also if I were looking for corporate items.

Well done.

btw - are they new products I spy!

Not sure about the silver writing on the black background - e.g. "WELCOME TO SILVER PURE SILVER". It looks a bit blurred due to the lack of contrast between the two colours.

Nice layout though.

Thanks for the feedback.

Rob - I realise my error when I sent the guys some new photos - obviously they're not (completely) silver!!! Will need to rectify that one!

Hopefully the payment page will be fully integrated, with https:// and a padlock and it all looking the same (our existing one doesn't have the https: or padlock - so that would be an instant improvement!).

Kate - glad you like to new site - hold fire on any new products though!
Autolycus - could be clearer, yes.

Glad the initial layout has been well received so far - still a way to go yet.

Thanks
Karen

The site looks good.

I would suggest just 2 points.

1. Focus on your menu, its not doing it for me
2. if it is possible have a shopping basket area somewhere on the site (on the header) so users can be reminded on what they have in their baske

Good luck!

Hi elaborations

Thanks for your comments. Is the menu on the left too small do you think? We were thinking it should be bolder.

There is a 'view basket' option on the left hand menu, at the bottom in bold - shoudl it really be in the top naviagation bar?

Thanks

Sorry if someone has said this above, I just took a quick look and my initial feedback would be that there is too much going on relating to the number of links available. You have many at the top and many down the left under "Products". It means I have to search places to find things.

Hi Karen

I think it is ok but you can stretch the menu by 5-10 pixels, and text size by 1 size up.

I prefer to have the shopping basket on the top right of the header and i think this is the standard, I don’t think I have come a cross it on the left hand side.

When are you launching the website?

A basket link will soon appear on the right hand side of the top navigation bar - hope you'll all find it then!

We're going to try out different fonts and sizes in order the make it all clearer - however, one of my aims is to keep it all on one page when the viewer hits it, to save them scrolling down reams and reams.

The link to my new site may well disappear shortly while the designers do some more designing!!!

Hope to have the site up and live very shortly. Once we've agreed everything it should be fairly quick. Our existing website is still live . . . .
