Hi, I'm not just new here, but new to forums totally. Set a personal objective to join and use one in 2006 so here goes!
I run Stickybobs with a business partner, we offer messy play sessions for under fives and are just beginning to franchise the business and also have a small retail arm selling paper craft activity packs, also for under fives.
struggling to manage with an active 2 year old all day and a husband who's away alot, but still enjoying being out on my own. I've always worked for big banks, so it's quite a different environment.
I'm hoping to get inspiration from this forum - for bad days when I'ml trying to finish financial forecasts, which show me we're making no money and spending lots! and nothing seems to going right days - and offer it out when we're having a good one. Touch wood, January has been a good news month so far, so maybe we're getting there!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
You might have seen Stickybobs around, my business partner has been on a few forums and goes on Shell livewire quite alot.
I was recommended this one by Kate from bitsnstuff and she wasn't wrong about how friendly it is.

Hi Kate, and welcome.
Isn't it amazing how eye recognition works; I scanned through your opening post and thought the company was 'stickyboobs.' Shame on me I know, but just thought I'd share that with you!
Cheers, Nigel

Dear Kate,
As you may know, trade mark registration is essential for franchising.
You should register the name Stickybobs as a trade mark - registering just the logo isn't as good and gives you less protection, also you ought to be able to claim copyright in the design of the logo anyway.
You should be sure to include a wide enough description of products and services in the application to cover your immediately foreseeable business - too narrow a description potentially means having to spend money again to seek a wider registration and can leave part of your business unprotected in the meantime.
A qualified trade mark attorney should be able to advise you on these matters.

Hi Kate, welcome to the forum.
Stickybobs sounds like brilliant fun! I run a very similar business to yourselves (although not craft related) and also have a husband who travels away alot (leaving me to look after 4 children and run my own business  )
I am also now in the process of thinking about expansion and have been considering either franchising or licencing. I would love to chat to you some more if you have the time. Would it be ok if I pm'd you at some point?
Everybody on here has been very supportive, I only hope that one day I will be knowledgeable and savvy enough to be able to help others out, in the same way that people on here have helped me!
Good luck with everything, let me know if I can pm you! :D

Thanks for this Nigel - made me smile! Hopefully, given what we do, not too many people will scan as you did!!

Claire, feel free to pm me anytime. Bear in mind I have limited time on this thing, so won't be ignoring you if I don't reply quickly! Son is supposed to having a nap and is currently standing at his bedroom door yelling at me, so will have to go now - a grand total of 15min work so far today! Have to find something non pc related to do while he plays.
