I checked up on my local listing about a month back only to find it had been removed from spot number 2 and gone altogether.
On checking my google dash board it was marked as awaiting verification.
Nothing had been changed so why this.
I had to request a new pin which took 2 weeks and now have to wait another 6 weeks before it goes back into Google Local.
All this showed a drop of around 50% hits to my web site and a drop in revenue.
This sort of thing could wreck a growing business. It wont effect us too much as word of mouth more than compensates for it.
Any reason for this happening?

Most likely it's breaching their terms...

It ran for nearly 2 years. Then wham. I got the new pin code and have resubmitted.
No real reason as to why. Just a flag next to it saying it needed verifying.
It had already been veryfied. Have no idea why it stoped in the first place.

Looks like a competitor has found the loophole to getting competition listings removed. Sadly you can drive a truck through the Google Local business centre security system.

I was starting to suspect this as some of my local adds were stopped too. I have now set up passwords with these but how do I stop it with Google.
It has not done me too much harm as advertising takes second place to word of mouth anyway.

Sadly, until Google change their system, there is nothing that can be done. Obviously I am not going to post detail on a forum as to the loophole :)

Sorry to hear that this has happened to you.
