Best free web site maker?

Before you all shout at me and tell me they're all rubbish... it's for my young daughter. She's only 12 but wants to have a go at making a site.

I tried searching on Google but there were hundreds!
Tried searching on the forum search thingy but came up with 4,162 options?! :oops:

Advice please?

Do you have Microsoft Publisher, I know the code is rubbish, but it's fun to do :D

Noooo don't use publisher!! Use MS word!! Have you got someone to host it ready? I'd recommend atspace.com, they're great! No ads and great storage!

the best thing to try is notepad, and it is the best way to learn HTML.
She can save the txt files as htm and view them as browser wen she opens them up.

I think this is the best way forward for her.

Hi Hayles,

I seem to recall you're getting your own business web-site up and running shortly. Some of the internet companies offer a web-writing suite with part of their package - I'm wioth 1 & 1 and got NetObjects for nothing. It is quite straightforward and easy to use. Perhps if you're using one of the UKBF menbers for your hosting, they may offer a similar incentive :wink: :wink: !!

I second the 1&1 host, as it is really cheap (I think £1.99 pm at the mo), I find it reliable, you get free software with it that she can fiddle around with and also there is a website builder, which I used to build a site quickly in less than an hour and we all know, I am not a professional at these things!! :lol: If you want to see it let me know and I will PM the address to give you an idea.

Also I have used Frontpage to play around and build a site, which is not ideal (before anyone shouts at me!), but will help her get an understanding of how things work and if she can use Word and the other Microsoft packages then she will understand already the dropdown concept etc. Again, I can PM an address of one I made in Frontpage to give you an idea of that.

I use vshosting and he is doing a free site builder with his hosting package too. I've just done my art site with one, so obviously they are easy to do :lol:

Plus if you get stuck, he's really nice and you can bend his ear all day :lol:

If you want the easiest way to get pages online, go to Blogger.com

It is owned by Google and is free. You need no knowledge of coding and you can have pages up instantly by following its instructions.

Your daughter would then have a 'blog' which is like an online diary, but looks the same as a website, and she can add text, images or whatever.

I use frontpage and my site looks pretty cool, it's easy to use as it's MS so the buttons are similar to word etc.

Or you could try bravehost if you want a free and easy one to play with, thats where I started out
