Hi,

I've just about finished my new website, I have just the keywords and titles to do. I sent it to my sister for a look and she says, all of the pages have question marks all over them. It looks fine on my computer. I was just hoping someone would take a look and explain what i've done wrong.

Oh, it's a VSHosting's online website creator I did it with and Tony must be out, I cannot wait any longer, i'm hoping you lot will help :D

Thank You

Jayne

Thanks Kate..

Why can my sister see question marks though? We are both on AOL?

Hi Jayne. Your html is incorrect. In IE you can inspect it by going to 'View>Source' on the menu bar. Everything following </html> should be between the <body ...> and </body> tags. The page looks okay, but I'm using IE which is very forgiving and no good for developing and testing.

I'm not very good with html, so someone else might see something I can't.

No question marks here, is she using AOL's "browser" ? ask her to try it in IE maybe, if that works, it would then indicate either her AOL, or possibly an AOL problem in general though I wouldnt have thought it to be the latter.

Hi,

I don't get any question marks either.

Do you know what browser and version your sister is using? What version of Windows (or other OS)?

That font looks a little bit unusual - is it just large bold Times New Roman or something else? If you have used a specific non-standard font and it is one that isn't installed on your sister's PC then that could cause problems.

Dave.

She only uses aol browser, i've tried on aol and IE and both seem fine. I've been on the phone with her half an hour asking her to try stuff and nothing worked.

Hope the little sod isn't just saying it for a laugh

Anyway, I don't understand the code stuff, I can only do the template thing.

The font is veranda which I would have thought wouldnt cause any problem. Did you ask her to try it on IE ?

Hi Jayne. I've just fixed the mistake I found in your html and PM'd it to you. Simply copy/paste and save it as a .html file, then upload it to your server.

The font is veranda . . .

Veranda? So how good is this new font?

Nice paintings by the way Jayne, but I've pledged my art allegiance to Claire  .

Yes that's the one Calv. Everything following </html> should be between the <body ...> and </body> tags.

Don't worry Jayne, I have a copy of it on my computer which I will delete when you tell me it's okay. By the way, if I remember correctly, your home page should be named index.html. Let me know how you get on. I'm off out to do some beering very shortly.

Right, I've done something, not sure what. I did freeze the site for a bit, but now it's working again...doesn't look any different though, should it?

I'm not even sure if I have downloaded ok

You know your 'about' page, the top bar thingy (don't know what it's called, but on this site its 'UK Business Forums - Post a reply') says 'page title.' Is this intentional? Just something I've noticed while the page was loading - you take notice of these things when you're stuk on dialup!!

Hehe!
