View Full Version : SEO Tips for a magazine... earn free publicity!

Hi all,

I'm writing a feature for the magazine 'Multi-Channel Marketing' on SEO, and would like to incorporate tips from different SEO experts.

If your tip goes in it would obviously be valuable coverage!

I am looking for fairly in-depth tips. These should be aimed at ecommerce retailers (and preferably be things they can look at straight away).

For instance, one will be to pay attention to the <H1> headers on every page. (It will obviously go into this in more detail.)

The feature will be aimed at marketing professionals with a hands-on understanding of their ecommerce site, who may only just be becoming aware of the importance of SEO.

So the forum's open..... any ideas welcome.

I will, of course, include your name and company, and post you a photocopy of the article after publication, for any tips I use.

Thanks very much!
Anna

Hi Anna,
I've done some writing for local websites and magazines so i'd be happy to help. How about an article on using Froogle?

Hello! Don't think I explained myself very well!

Don't panic - I'm not looking for people to write things, just to suggest a hot tip that I will then turn into a quote and attribute to the expert. The article will take the form of 10-12 hot tips from experts all over the UK; and it will be good publicity for anyone who can submit something!

I will be running the draft past all my experts for approval before the piece goes to the editor.

I don't know much about Froogle - if you list products on there, does it improve search engine rankings? Is it easy to add products to the database - and free?

ta,
Anna

Hi Copyqueen - here's a quick, but often overlooked, tip for good SEO:

Remember to use descriptive text (and titles) for all your internal links - i.e. don't say 'click here for the latest fashions' (with the link on 'click here') - it's far better from an SEO point of view to say 'view our latest fashions' with the link on 'latest fashions'. That way the destination page benefits from not only having a link point towards it, but from having keywords associated with that link.

Hope this is helpful,

David

Froogle is free and as long as the items you sell are priced competitively they may even appear at the top of the Google listings.

Hi Copyqueen

Unfortunately I'm not very technical, so I can't offer you any great tips.

However, I would be interested in reading the finished article if you would be so good as to send me a copy

Page Rank Article (www.yourecommerce.com/nl2.htm)

General stuff, but maybe you could something something from it.

No problem! Maybe I can post it on here... if I can work out how... the good thing about being a copywriter is that I'm not usually expected to be a technical genius...

Hmm....

Whoops, and thanks everyone. I have foolishly double-posted this thread (here, and in the IT section) which is getting very confusing.
