Can anyone tell me why my printer - Samsung CLP-500N - is not printing red tones very well. Whistleink says it is supposed to tell me if it is running out of toner - it isn't, so could anyone else tell me what it could be?

Also today, my fax machine receive and sends faxes fine. However, when it received a fax, it goes through the motions and all seems fine, but the piece of paper which should have the fax printed on it, it blank. I have changed the ink cartridge, but haven't a clue what else it could be.

I know, I know, but me and machines don't get on. It is probably something really simply (I hope), but I haven't a clue how to fix it.

All help appreciated.

Cheeky!!

It is a hp officejet v40, so it is also supposed to be my copier and scanner, but obviously without printing it is a waste of space. I have however, barely used it, so it seems a bit strange that it doesn't work, unless of course, lack of use can cause a problem!??!?!

the ink may of dried up or at elast the nozzle if it's not used regulary.

I changed the ink, but if it is the nozzle, how do you fix that? I was going to chuck out the machine and buy a new one - sounds a little excessive now?!! :?

Perhaps the person who sent the fax had nothing to say

Sorry :D

ok 2 problems here methinks

The Samsung, It certainly sounds like toner is out, an easy test to do - open paint, draw 4 squares and fill them the following 4 colours:
black
cyan
magenta
yellow

and print that out, you will probably find that the magenta prints either poorly or not at all which would again indicate a toner problem. You can go into the printers menu on the display and have it print a pagecount, this will give you a bit of an indication as well.

The other printer, take out the ink cartridge, get a cotton bud with a bit of meths on, and give it a clean where the cartridge goes.

No problem, if you were nearer I'd have come and had a look (at a reduced rate of course) but you are a bit far.

It could be someone sent you a blank fax...

I sent 15 faxes out, wrong side down, a couple of years ago when doing an advertising campaign....

I didn't get many responses.... :(

OK, actually I did it twice (a follow up 2 days later).

In my defence, it was a new fax machine and different to my other one... :D
